Distance-measuring opto-electronic sensor and method for determing the distance from objects

The optoelectronic sensor (10) has a light transmitter (12) for emitting a transmission light beam (16) having several successive transmission pulses. An evaluation unit (32) performs addition of reception pulses in the sampled received signal arising from the transmission pulses to obtain a summation signal. A matched filter of the evaluation unit filters summation signal to determine signal reception timing from the summation signal by time-of-flight method, so that the distance between objects is determined. An independent claim is included for method for determining distance between objects in monitoring area.
