<p>A device 300 for aiding the stacking of drums has a substantially rigid body with first and second opposing surfaces 310, 320. Each of the surfaces is provided with a means for engaging one or more drums so that the device may be placed in between two stacked drums and act to distribute the weight of the upper drum evenly over an upper surface of the lower drum. The upper surface of the lower drum may be the hoop of the drum. The device may cover substantially the entire head of the upper drum to form a barrier. The engaging means preferably comprises one or more formations 310a, 320a, such as protrusions and/or recesses which may be in the form of a plurality of concentric annular grooves 310b, 320b. The inner dimensions of the annual grooves may substantially match the hoop or rim of a drum which engages with the formation. The body may be a disk made of plastic and may be provided with a plurality of radial notches, for engaging with lugs of drums, evenly distributed about the circumference of the device. Suitable manufacturing methods include extrusion moulding, injection moulding, thermoset plastic moulding and rotational moulding.</p> |
