The present invention relates to a device and a method for providing a local communications function in portable terminal. A device and a method for providing a local communications function in portable terminal comprise the steps of: recognizing a tag to read a local communications message from the tag; storing a second data except for a fist data among data included the local communications message when the first data of a specific record type exists within the local communications message; verifying whether or not a specific application corresponding to the first data, is installed; executing the specific application when the specific application is installed according to the verified result; and thus supplying the second data to the specific application such that the specific application performs a specific function using the second data.
