A method of processing prediction information for encoding or decoding at least part of an image of an enhancement layer of video data, where the video data including the enhancement layer and a base layer. The enhancement layer is composed of processing blocks and the base layer is composed of elementary units each having associated prediction data. For a processing block of the enhancement layer: prediction data of at least a co-located elementary unit of the base layer is obtained, the prediction data defining first predictors. From said prediction data obtained, further predictors for prediction of the current processing block are generated. The prediction data obtained from the base layer comprises motion data indicative of the location of the corresponding predictor in the video data. Where the motion data is bidirectional, comprising two motion data sets, the method comprises generating at least one set of unidirectional motion data from the bidirectional motion data. Independent claims relating to use of at least two different motion compensation processes, and to applying at least one filtering process to the base layer predictors, are also disclosed. |
