An apparatus (10, fig. 1) for transportation and storage of an engine 41, such as a turbine, the apparatus comprising an enclosure 5 comprising a lid portion 11, and a base portion 12, and one or more support elements 19, 21 within the base portion is for mounting and supporting the engine. The lid portion and the base portion are assembled such that the lid portion and the base portion completely surround the engine located within the enclosure. The base portion comprises a base container 12 incorporating an internal support frame 15. The enclosure may be fluid tight and may be pressurised with gas thereby protecting the engine from moisture and other contaminates. The apparatus may further comprise a shock resistant system to protect the engine inside the enclosure from shocks and vibrations. The shock resistant system may comprise a skid platform 16 on which the base portion may be mounted on a plurality of suspension mounts 17. The shock resistant system may be configured to monitor any shock and the size of the shock which has been transmitted to the engine. |
