An automatic gain controller (AGC) and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for controlling an amplified gain of the automatic gain controller comprises a first step of detecting a change in an amplitude of an input signal from an output signal of the automatic gain controller, and a second step of adaptively changing a response speed of the automatic gain controller based on the changes of the amplitude of the input signal.
