ICE AND SLUSH MITIGATION FOR BRIDGE SUPPORTS AND OTHER OVERHEAD BRIDGE STRUCTURES

A system is provided for mitigating a build-up of ice on one or more bridge-support cables located above a deck of the bridge. The system comprises: means for moving water from a river spanned by the bridge to a location above the one or more cables; and, for each cable, means for creating a flow of the water in a region proximate to the outer surface of the cable.
