摘要 A linear voltage regulator includes a Miller frequency compensation having a movable zero, which tracks the frequency of the load pole as the load condition changes. The compensated voltage regulator maintains stability under variable load conditions. Because of the Miller effect, DC open-loop gain and bandwidth are not sacrificed for stability. The compensated voltage regulator can therefore maintain high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR).

A compensated voltage regulator comprising: a first amplifier having a first input for receiving a reference voltage, a second input, and an output; a second amplifier having an input coupled to the output of the first amplifier, and an output; a pass transistor having a control terminal coupled to the output of the second amplifier, and a current path; a first current mirror having an input coupled to the current path of the pass transistor, and an output; a second current mirror having an input coupled to the current path of the pass transistor, and an output; a variable impedance compensation network having a first terminal coupled to the input of the first current mirror, a second terminal coupled to the output of the second current mirror, and a third terminal coupled to the input of the second amplifier; and a feedback network in the current path of the output of the first current mirror, and coupled to the second input of the first amplifier, wherein the variable impedance comprises a capacitor and a variable resistor in series, and wherein the variable resistor comprises a diode configured to receive a replica current proportional to a load current, and wherein the voltage regulator comprises a linear voltage regulator, and wherein the first current mirror has a source terminal coupled to VDD, and the second current mirror has a source terminal coupled to ground.
