The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for monitoring the rear of a vehicle. The method according to the present invention includes the steps of detecting a steering angle of the vehicle; performing distortion correction of a specific area of a rear image corresponding to the detected steering angle information of the vehicle among rear images photographed by a camera installed at the rear of the vehicle; and outputting the distortion-corrected specific area of the rear image on a sub screen. According to the present invention, the monitoring apparatus and method can provide a driver with accurate information about the rear of a vehicle. |
