The method involves accelerating formation of a soot bed on a set of walls of a set of channels at the beginning of life of a particulate filter, and voluntarily increasing particulate emissions during a mileage e.g. ten kilometers, predetermined at the beginning of use of the filter utilized for an internal combustion engine. The predetermined mileage is traversed by a hybrid vehicle with the assistance of the internal combustion engine. A set of specific calibrations of operation of the internal combustion engine is utilized.
