PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultrafine fiber by a melt electrospinning method even from a polyolefin-based resin having a high volume specific resistance value from which the ultrafine fiber has not been able to be produced by the melt electrospinning method.SOLUTION: There are provided an ultrafine fiber having an average fiber diameter of 1 μm or less which is obtained by subjecting a polyolefin-based resin (A) in a heated, molten state to continuous extrusion spinning by the melt electrospinning method is provided and a method for producing the same. The ultrafine fiber is produced by using (A1) a polyolefin resin having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 40000 or less; (A2) a polyolefin resin having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of more than 40000 and an organic peroxide, of which Mw will become less than 40000 by the decomposition reaction of the organic peroxide in the step of the continuous extrusion spinning in the heated, molten state; or (A3) a polyolefin resin having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of more than 40000, of which Mw will become less than 40000 by the thermal decomposition reaction in the step of the continuous extrusion spinning in the heated, molten state, as the polyolefin-based resin (A). |
