PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal compound having high stability to heat, light and the like, a high clearing point, a lower limit temperature of a liquid crystal phase, a small viscosity, a suitable optical anisotropy, a large dielectric anisotropy, a suitable elastic constant and excellent compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds, and to provide a liquid crystal composition containing the compound and a liquid crystal display element including the composition.SOLUTION: There is provided a compound represented by the formula (1): wherein, for example, Ris an alkyl having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; a ring A, a ring A, a ring A, a ring Aand a ring Aare independently 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene and 1,4-phenylene in which at least one hydrogen is substituted by a halogen; Z, Z, Zand Zare independently a single bond, -(CH)-, -CH=CH-, -COO-, -OCO-, -CFO-, -OCF-, -CHO- and -OCH-; a, b and c are independently 0 or 1; and d is 1. |
