PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting medium which can detect enterohemorrhagic E. coli in a test sample by a culture method.SOLUTION: In a detection medium which detects enterohemorrhagic E. coli related to this invention, a little quantity of sucrose, a pH indicator, and a chromophoric enzyme substrate of galactoside derivatives are added to a basal medium for detecting E. coli as a detection agent to distinguish E. coli from other Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, and tellurite, novobiocin and bile salt and/or lauryl sulfate are added as a selection agent to distinguish enterohemorrhagic E. coli from other E. coli. There is also provided a detection method using the medium. |
