PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimum power control system which utilizes respective characteristics of a nickel-hydrogen battery and a low-output battery such as a lead storage battery.SOLUTION: A power control system 1 comprises: a nickel-hydrogen battery 4; a low-output secondary battery 5 which is connected in parallel with the nickel-hydrogen battery 4 and whose output is smaller than that of the nickel-hydrogen battery 4; an inverter 6 for converting DC power from the nickel-hydrogen battery 4 and the low-output secondary battery 5 to AC power; DC/DC converters 7 and 8 installed between the inverter 6 and at least one of the nickel-hydrogen battery 4 and low-output secondary battery 5; and a system controller 10 for controlling the DC/DC converters 7 and 8 and inverter 6 on the basis of an instruction from an external controller 9.
