A gaming machine including a game controller, the game controller adapted to provide a main game in which a plurality of symbols are selected and presented on a display and if a winning combination occurs, the game controller awards an award. The game controller is further adapted to play a secondary game, wherein when the secondary game is played the game controller compares a first symbol with a second symbol, both the first and second symbols being symbols selected from a plurality of secondary game symbols, each of the secondary game symbols having a primary characteristic and a secondary characteristic. if the primary and secondary characteristics of the first symbol match the primary and secondary characteristics of the second symbol the game controller awards the user with a first award. If the primary characteristics of the first and second symbols do not match but the secondary characteristics of the first and second symbols do match, the game controller awards the user with a second award, the second award being different to the first award. |
