PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst having excellent catalytic performance, which allows ethylene oxide to be manufactured with a high selectivity for a long period; and a manufacturing method of ethylene oxide with use of the catalyst.SOLUTION: The catalyst for manufacturing ethylene oxide includes: a carrier mainly composed of α-alumina; and a catalyst component supported by the carrier, which includes silver, and alkaline metal and/or rhenium. The catalyst satisfies the following conditions: (1) A first desorption peak temperature (T1[°C]) observed in the temperature range of 150 to 250°C by temperature-programmed desorption of oxygen (O-TPD method) is lower than 215°C; and (2) The ratio of a second desorption peak temperature (T2[°C]) observed in the temperature range of 250 to 400°C by temperature-programmed desorption of oxygen (O-TPD method) to T1, i.e. (T2/T1), is less than 1.7. |
