<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that media defects and other external disturbances may violate specified limits and cause loss of valuable data, namely degrade performance of an optical storage device.SOLUTION: An optical storage focus servo system may comprise an optical pickup unit. The optical pickup unit comprises an astigmatic focusing lens, a focusing actuator for controlling a position of the lens relative to optical media, and a plurality of detectors for detecting intensity and a shape of a reflected beam from the media. The system may also comprise a controller controlling the focusing actuator on the basis of the intensity and the shape of the reflected beam.</p> |
