The device i.e. tripod (1), has a guide e.g. through-hole (3) and sleeve, for a tool. A measuring sensor detects a support (9) and/or a non-support (10). LEDs (2, 4, 5) visually display measuring results of the measuring sensor. A data transmission device transmits the measuring results to a computer. The sleeve is rotated around a longitudinal axis. The LEDs are directly arranged above feet (6-8). The LEDs are arranged such that intuitive attachment of the LEDs to the feet is carried out. The LEDs are activated with the support of the feet.
