PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element such as a high-performance LED element that has less light emission unevenness, high luminance efficiency, and excellent operating characteristics, and is excellent in reliability.SOLUTION: A light-emitting element includes: a semiconductor structure layer 11 including a stack of, in that order, a first-conductivity-type first semiconductor layer, an active layer, and a second-conductivity-type second semiconductor layer; a first electrode 23 composed of a translucent conductor formed on a part of the semiconductor layer; a second electrode 19 formed on a part of the second semiconductor layer; a translucent insulating layer formed so as to cover a portion of the first semiconductor layer exposed from the first electrode 23 and so as to cover a part of the first electrode 23; and a metal layer formed on the surface of the translucent insulating layer opposite to the surface in contact with the first semiconductor layer. The first electrode 23 is formed in a region other than a region facing a region in which the second electrode 19 is formed with the semiconductor structure layer interposed therebetween. |
