PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use an operator who performs inspection with an egg quality index inspection apparatus.SOLUTION: An egg quality index inspection apparatus includes: light-projecting means for projecting parallel light distributed in a vertical direction; light-receiving means for receiving the parallel light at a predetermined interval from the projection by the light-projecting means; a mounting plate where a broken egg is placed and that can move between the light-projecting means and the light-receiving means in a horizontal direction relatively to the light-projecting means and the light-receiving means, so that the broken egg crosses the parallel light; and operating means for obtaining information on a lateral shape of the broken egg by the broken egg crossing the parallel light and inspecting a quality index of the egg on the basis of the information on the lateral shape of the egg.
