PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auger type ice making machine capable of preventing soft ice blocks that are not compressed in an ice compression passage from being generated.SOLUTION: An auger type ice making machine 1 comprises a cylindrical freezing casing 2 and a cooling pipe 3 is wound around an outer peripheral surface of the freezing casing 2. An auger 4 is rotatably arranged within the freezing casing 2 and helical blades 5 are formed helically at the outer peripheral surface of the auger 4 along a longitudinal direction of the auger 4. A pressing head 7 formed with a plurality of ice compression passages 6 to extend in a vertical direction is arranged above the auger 4 so as to be inserted from the upper end part of the freezing casing 2 into the freezing casing 2. The upper part of the pressing head 7 is provided with a cutter 8. The helical blades 5 are provided with recessed grooves 40. The recessed grooves 40 are formed to extend in a vertical direction in respect to a longitudinal direction of the auger 4.
