PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition containing a compound based on a fungus cell wall in a method of modulating immune response in a subject.SOLUTION: A composition contains &bgr;-1,6-glucan with an O-acetylated group being enriched, where the glucan comprises at least 25 wt.% of O-acetylated glucan. The glucan is isolated or obtained from lichen, fungus, or yeast or Umbilicariaceae. The glucan is genetically engineered or chemically synthesized or acetylated. In a method, the composition modulates and facilitates immune response. |
