PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which is used for treatment of gastrointestinal infectious disorder or gastrointestinal inflammatory disorder in individuals of infancy, such as infants including a newborn infant.SOLUTION: A therapeutic composition comprises one or more of α1,2 fucosyl glycans, and particularly, comprises a fucose terminus in which α1,2 fucosyl glycans are linked to a core sequence in an α1,2 linkage. The core sequence is galactose (&bgr;1-3) N-acetylglucosamine-R1, or galactose (&bgr;1-4) N-acetylglucosamine-R2, wherein R1 and R2 are each independently H, a small radical, a monosaccharide, a disaccharide or a polysaccharide.
