PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact printer for single side and double sides easily and inexpensively.SOLUTION: A printer 10 for single side and double sides includes a thermal head 12 for printing on base materials 1, 41, a rolled base material supplying section 42 for supplying a continuous base material 41 to be printed on the single side thereof to the thermal head 12, and a sheet base material supplying section 25 which is arranged below the rolled base material supplying section 42 and supplies the sheet base material 1 to be printed on both sides. A guide conveying passage 24 for guiding the sheet base material 1 from the sheet base material supplying section 25 to the thermal head 12 is provided between the thermal head 12 and the sheet base material supplying section 25. A reversal mechanism 20 for reversing the sheet base material 1 returned from the thermal head 12 is connected with the guide conveying passage 24. The reversal mechanism 20 is composed of a rotatable storage shell 21.
