PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide biodegradable implants sized and suitable for implantation in an ocular region or site, and methods for treating ocular conditions.SOLUTION: The implants such as microspheres provide an extended release of an active agent in a therapeutically effective amount for a period of time from 10 days to one year or longer. The active agent is selected from estradiol, for example 2-methoxyestradiol, or aα2 adrenergic agonist, for example brimonidine, and a derivative thereof, or a prostaglandin analog.
