The method involves switching a cooling apparatus into an ON-state by a thermostat (5). A compressor (1) having variable rotation speed is operated with an initial rotational speed. Time period in which switching of the cooling apparatus is passed into the ON-state, is measured. The measured time period is compared with a predetermined threshold value. The rotation speed of the compressor is increased around certain amount when the measured time period reaches the threshold value, where the compressor rotation speed represents a predetermined percentage of the initial speed.
