The invention relates to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and to medicine, in particular to medicinal agents based on the mixture of natural isoprenol (Roprene) oligomers inhibiting monoaminooxidase activity and to a method for treating patients suffering from diseases caused by the monoaminooxidase excessive activity. The aim of the invention is to develop a novel medicinal agent producing a minimum side effect, which is an immediate problem in treating the above-mentioned diseases. The inventive medicinal agent, which is used for treating the patients suffering from diseases caused by the monoaminooxidase excessive activity and is produced in the form of polyprenols of formula (1), wherein n=8-20 and the polyprenol content ranging from 0.1 to 80%, and the inventive method for treating patients suffering from diseases caused by the monoaminooxidase excessive activity, consisting in administering to the patients from 1 to 150 mg of polyprenols of formula (1) in the form of one or more doses a day or in the form of a separate preparation or a pharmaceutical composition additionally containing auxiliary ingredients, are disclosed.
