PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which performs rough positioning with high accuracy before precise positioning in order to facilitate the precise positioning.SOLUTION: Each of patch patterns constituting a registration patch for registration control in an X direction is formed in 40 dots×8 columns in an X direction and 40 dots×8 columns in a Y direction. In a K pattern of a reference color, the top two rows and the bottom two rows are solid, and a laterally long pattern, as a unit pattern, including a solid portion formed of 40 dots in the Y direction and 80 dots in the X direction and a blank portion formed of 40 dots is arranged in the X direction in the intermediate 6 rows. An M pattern superimposed on the K pattern has a blank portion corresponding to the solid portion of the K pattern, and a solid portion corresponding to the blank portion of the K pattern. A registration patch is formed by superimposing the M patterns on the K patterns while displacing the M patterns by 4 dots in a main scanning direction. |
