PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fermented soybean hypocotyl material which contains equol and is useful for a food material, pharmaceutical material, cosmetic material or the like, and a method for producing the fermented soybean hypocotyl material.SOLUTION: The equol-containing fermented soybean hypocotyl material is produced by fermenting soybean hypocotyl using a microorganism which has the ability to utilize at least one of daidzeins selected from the group consisting of daidzein glycoside, daidzein, and dihydrodaidzein to produce equol. The fermented soybean material containing equol and at least one of other soy isoflavone, in which the content of equol in the fermented soybean material is 30 mass% or more of the total amount of isoflavones, is ingested 0.5-10 g per day for prevention or improvement of conditions accompanying unidentified complaint or menopause. A food or pharmaceutical comprising the fermented soybean material in which the amount of the allergen in a soybean is reduced, and including 0.1-20 mg of equol per 1 g of the fermented soybean material in dry weight conversion, is disclosed. |
