PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to achieve a scanner-initiative type operation similar to the case of including an auxiliary storage device, even when an image forming apparatus does not include an auxiliary storage device.SOLUTION: When a user places a document on an automatic sheet feeder 2A or on a document platen of an image forming apparatus 20 that is locally connected to a PC and presses a button 26i (i is any one of 1 to 3), the PC indirectly transmits a scan execution request to the image forming apparatus 20 via a scanner driver, and receives image data from the image forming apparatus 20 via the scanner driver and stores the image data in an auxiliary storage device of the PC.
