In a joint in which a pipe 3, received in the socket 4, abuts a shoulder 4c, and a sealing ring 6 is compressed around the pipe by a nut 5 screwing on to the socket, the ring has three external annular ribs, two of which are received in a recess 4d, while the other is engaged by an internal flange of the nut. The ribs are preferably rounded, the nut having a recess 5b shaped to fit the end of the ring. The middle rib may be of slightly larger diameter than the other ribs.</p> |
