1. A catheter comprising:
an elongate catheter body configured for insertion into a body lumen of a subject, the catheter body having opposite distal and proximal ends, a longitudinal axis extending between the distal and proximal ends, and an interior passage extending along the longitudinal axis; and a cutter having a proximal end portion, a distal end portion, and a longitudinal axis extending between the proximal and distal end portions, the cutter being located generally at the distal end of the catheter body for rotation generally about the longitudinal axis of the cutter, the cutter further including,
an eccentric opening in the distal end portion of the cutter defining an angled cutting edge for cutting tissue from a wall of the body lumen, a center of the opening being offset from the longitudinal axis of the cutter, anda cavity extending from the opening through the cutter from the distal end portion to the proximal end portion to allow tissue cut by the cutter to pass through the cutter into the interior passage of the catheter body for removal from the body lumen. |
