Gearbox (1) for a self-propelled device, comprising: a casing (12) with a primary shaft (3) and a secondary shaft (51, 52), each shaft being equipped with a set of gears (6) arranged coaxially around the shafts (51, 52), each gear (4) of the gear set of the primary shaft (3) being kept in constant mesh with a gear (6) of the secondary shaft (51, 52); a reduction mechanism comprising a driving member in mesh with a couplable/uncouplable driven member of said primary shaft (3) by means of a clutch mechanism (10); and at least one key (14) that can be selectively keyed to a gear (6) borne by the secondary shaft (51, 52). The secondary shaft (51, 52) is formed of two half-shafts (51, 52) which are mounted with the freedom to turn relative to one another and kept aligned by a sleeve (15) inside which one end of each half-shaft (51, 52) is housed, said sleeve (15) being equipped with at least one longitudinal guideway along which the key (14), which rotates as one with the sleeve (15), is mounted with the ability to move axially, this key-bearing sleeve (15) being coupled to each of the half-shafts (51, 52) by an uncouplable connection (17). |
