<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal alignment agent capable of forming a liquid crystal alignment film that exhibits a good liquid crystal aligning capability by optical alignment method using a small amount of exposure, and that is excellent in performances such as electrical characteristics.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal alignment agent contains at least one kind of polymer selected from the group consisting of radiation-sensitive polyorganosiloxane having a specific group represented by a group denoted by the following formula (where "*" indicates a bond), polyorganosiloxane other than the radiation-sensitive polyorganosiloxane, polyamic acid, and polyimide. The liquid crystal alignment agent of the invention is suitably applicable to a liquid crystal display element with a TN-type, a STN-type, or an IPS-type liquid crystal cell, and, in particular, to a lateral electric field liquid crystal display element with the IPS-type liquid crystal cell.</p> |
