PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating composition for obtaining coating film superior in adhesivity, water resistance and oil-and-fat resistance to a plastic base material, particularly a polypropylene base material. SOLUTION: The aqueous coating composition for plastic base materials, comprises: (X) a polymer (W)-containing emulsion; and (Y) a chlorinated polyolefin resin. In the composition, the polymer (W) is such as to be obtained, in an aqueous dispersion containing a polyorganosiloxane polymer (A), by emulsion polymerization of first vinyl monomer(s) including a specific amount of a first specific monomer or a mixture thereof (I) followed by emulsion polymerization of a second vinyl monomer(s) including a specific amount of a second specific monomer or a mixture thereof (II).
