The betatron (1) has an acceleration block with a rotationally symmetric inner yoke from two parts (2a 2b), which are spaced at a distance from each other. A toroid shaped betatron tube (5) is arranged between the two parts of the inner yoke. An outer yoke (4) surrounds the acceleration block and connects two parts of the inner yoke, where the outer yoke has two parts that are movable between an opened position and a closed position relative to one another. The acceleration block is laterally removable from the opening of the outer yoke.
