The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a cathode active material and a cathode active material manufactured by same and, more particularly, to a method for manufacturing a cathode active material in which a surface of a Li-Ni oxide containing Co and/or Mn is coated with the olivine-type composite oxide and the conductive carbon, and a cathode active material manufactured by same. In the cathode active material manufactured by the method for manufacturing a cathode active material according to the present invention, the surface of the Li-Ni oxide containing Co and/or Mn is coated with the olivine-type composite oxide and the conductive carbon so that a side reaction on the surface is impeded. Accordingly, the cathode active material can be provided with high energy density, high capacity, improved safety, and improved life characteristics. |
