摘要 Closed loop motor vehicle 10 cruise control system with electronic control unit (ECU) adjusts injection parameters 44 by determining difference between vehicle velocity 20 and an upper threshold velocity 22 at which auxiliary brake 18 is activated. Auxiliary brake 18 is deactivated when velocity 20 drops below predetermined target velocity 26, at which point engine 16 is set to idle fuelling 30 and vehicle acceleration 50 is monitored for predefined time 28, e.g. to detect the effects of external / environmental factors such as gradient (downhill / uphill) or wind on vehicle speed. Threshold acceleration is calculated, and fuel injection quantity 32 is altered to adjust vehicle 10 acceleration 50 in dependence on threshold and monitored acceleration. A default fuelling quantity may be used to reach target velocity 26 if acceleration 50 is lower than / equal to threshold acceleration. Fuel injection may be avoided if monitored acceleration exceeds a desired acceleration required to reach threshold velocity. Also claimed are a driver assistance device and motor vehicle to enact the method.
