An incline adjustment apparatus for a vehicle seat. The incline adjustment apparatus includes a pivoting frame assembly. The pivoting frame assembly includes at least one front pivot member 101 and a pivotally mounted backrest 79. At least one floating link (17, Figure 9) connects the at least one front pivot member 101 to the backrest 79. The apparatus includes actuating means 101 for controllably adjusting the configuration of the pivoting frame assembly to adjust the angular incline of the backrest 79. Optionally the backrest is in the form of a four bar link having at least opposite sides of unequal length so a small angular displacement in front pivot member 101 causes a larger angular displacement seat back 79. Also claimed is a vehicle seat frame having a backrest and a chassis where the backrest has a spine. A method of assembling a seat which has a backrest and chassis. A spine suitable for a vehicle seat which is configured to be position within a backrest of a vehicle seat. |
