A pump motor with the impeller on a projecting end of the rotor shaft has one fluid passed through a conduit in heat-exchanging relationship with the stator and then passed to the motor interior and through the motor bearings, the conduit being immersed in a second fluid. As shown, fluid being pumped traverses the coil 81 and is then passed into the rotor compartment bounded by the partition 62 fixed to the stator and completing the stator compartment containing fluid 68 different from that being pumped, e.g. askanel or a silicone oil. Part of the liquid pumped can also reach the vicinity of the bearings by passing between the back of the impeller 28 and the motor end cover 4 and can return to the pump compartment by ducts 35 in the impeller hub. The rotor laminµ may have an enclosure 69, 70 to protect them from the fluid. Specification 743,778 is referred to. |
