The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for tracking the location of a container using a spatial coordinate. The present invention provides the apparatus for tracking the location of the container, which comprises a communications module for communicating with a tracking apparatus; and a control module for receiving a tag coordinate representing the location of the container from the tracking device via the communications module and for deriving the phase of the container in a particular region by applying a region coordinate containing the coordinate of at least four points to a spatial operator in order to define the tag coordinate and the particular region, and the method according to the apparatus.
