PURPOSE: A composition including extract of ground part in curcumae longae rhizoma or the non-polar organic solvent fractions thereof are provided to be useful for preventing and treating IL-6 induced STAT3 mediated diseases, cancer or inflammatory diseases. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating IL-6 induced STAT3 mediated diseases includes extract of ground part in curcuma longa L or curcuma aromatica L as active ingredient. The extract is obtained by extracting the ground part of curcuma longa L or curcuma aromatica L by using water, organic solvent or a mixed solvent thereof. The organic solvent is methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, butanol, ethylene, acetone, hexane, ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, butylacetate, dichloromethane, N,N- dimethylformamid (DMF), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), 1,3- butylene glycol, propylene glycol or a mixed solvent thereof. A non-polar organic solvent fraction is obtained by disjunct-extracting the extract with hexane, ether, dichloromethane, chloroform, ethyl acetate or a mixed solvent thereof. The IL-6 induced STAT3 mediated disease is cancer or inflammation disease. |
