A stator having two coil sets arranged to produce a magnetic field for generating a drive torque mounts two control modules 400 on a first surface 253 of a fluid cooled heat sink of a stator 252, a capacitor 450, being mounted adjacent a second surface 440 of the heat sink in a stator groove 257. Wound pole teeth are mounted to heat sink surface 430 with a coil is adjacent to heat sink surface 410. Coolant is supplied to the heat sink channels 320,310 so as to cool both control modules and capacitor along with the windings. The circumferentially extending L shaped channel may have a variable cross section and contain ribs and protrusions for directing flow and modify the cooling effect at different locations and the coolant flow in the first 310 and second 320 portions of the channel may be effectively independent. |
