PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplifier that is capable of high efficiency operation even when a signal to be amplified is a high frequency band signal. SOLUTION: A Doherty amplifier 5 has two parallel circuits between an input terminal 10 and an output terminal 11. One has, in series, a carrier amplifier 12 having a first transistor 120, and a conductor line 14 having an electrical length that is substantially one fourth of the wavelength of an input signal. The other has a conductor line 15 having an electrical length equivalent to the phase difference of the conductor line 14, and a peak amplifier 13 having a second transistor 130. The carrier amplifier 12 and the peak amplifier 13 are arranged such that an output section 124 and an output section 134 are opposite to each other.
