Method for regulating the output of a combined heat and power plant

The method involves transforming mechanical power of an internal combustion engine (1) e.g. diesel engine, into electrical power utilizing a generator (G). An air-combustion gas line (7) and an exhaust line (8) are connected by an exhaust gas recirculation line (9). Exhaust gas is produced from an air-combustion gas mixture that is supplied to the internal combustion engine by the exhaust line. A part of the exhaust gas is supplied to the air-combustion gas mixture by the exhaust gas recirculation line and a control unit (6) for reducing power in the air-combustion gas line.
