PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silent chain by which the elongation due to the wear of the pin hole of the link plate is suppressed. SOLUTION: The foreign matter generated between the pins 9 and the pin holes 11 moves to the end sides of the pin holes 11 as shown by an arrow in Fig.9 and is discharged to the outside of the silent chain 1 from the gaps between both second link plates 5 and the gaps between the first link plate 2 and the second link plate 5 because the end diameter De is larger than the middle diameter Dc of the pin holes 11 and the contour line CL of the cross-section exhibits an arcuate shape. The pin holes 11 almost do not wear even though the pins 9 and the pin holes 11 relatively rotate because the foreign matter is held in the gaps 41 to 43 of the end sides of the pin holes 11 even when the foreign matter is not discharged to the outside of the silent chain 1.
