PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical glass and an optical element, having high chemical durability wherein a refractive index and an Abbe's number are within a desired range. SOLUTION: The optical glass and optical element each contains, by mass, 27.0-46.0% SiO<SB>2</SB>component, 20.0-35.0% TiO<SB>2</SB>component, 1.0-15.0% Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>component, 2.0-25.0% RO component (wherein, R is one or more kinds selected from the group comprising Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba) and 3.0-30.0% Rn<SB>2</SB>O component (wherein, Rn is one or more kinds selected from the group comprising Li, Na, K and Cs), each percentage being based on the total mass of the glass having a composition expressed in terms of oxide.
