The drive from the drum 2 supporting the needle cylinder 1 of a circular machine to the welt dial 13 is through spur gearing 3, 4 and bevel gearing 6, 7, 10, 11, spur gear 4 comprising an upper half 14 and a lower half 15 concentrically disposed and relatively angularly adjustable so as to enable any backlash occurring between the gears due to wear to be taken up by adjusting the two halves of the gear 4. The drive at the head of the machine may be transmitted through spur gears, some of which may be constructed similarly to the gear 4 to allow for wear between the gears. |
