An apparatus for recognizing a paper medium according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an apparatus body which forms a basic frame and in which a transfer path of a paper medium is formed in an inner space; and an alignment unit which aligns the paper medium transferred along the transfer path to an alignment reference plane. The alignment unit comprises: a transfer roller which transfers the paper medium in a forming direction of the transfer path; and an alignment roller which is disposed in a horizontal direction of the transfer roller to transfer the paper medium to the alignment reference plane. When the transfer roller and the alignment roller rotate at the same angle, the number of nipping of paper mediums by the alignment roller may be relatively larger than the number of nipping of paper mediums by the transfer rollers. According to an embodiment of the present invention, upon rotation of the transfer roller and the alignment roller, the number of nipping of paper medium by the alignment roller is larger than the number of nipping of paper mediums by the transfer roller. Therefore, a transfer distance of the paper medium by the alignment roller can be lengthened more than a transfer distance of the paper medium by the transfer roller. Hence, an alignment time can be reduced and a length of a transfer path necessary for alignment can be reduced, thereby improving space utilization in the inside of the apparatus body and reducing the size of the apparatus. |
