The present invention relates to an automatic transmission for a car. The automatic transmission for a car includes: an input shaft which receives power from an engine; a first planetary gear set selectively connected to a transmission housing to transmit power; a second planetary gear set to which power is transmitted from the input shaft and connected to the first planetary gear set; a third planetary gear set to which power is selectively transmitted from the input shaft; a fourth planetary gear set connected to the third planetary gear set and selectively connected to the first planetary gear set and the second planetary gear set; an output shaft connected to the fourth planetary gear set to output transmission power; eight rotating members made by connecting one or more among the respective rotating elements of the first to fourth planetary gear sets; and six friction members which consist of clutches to control power by being linked with a selected rotating member of the eight rotating members or with the input shaft and brakes interposed between the selected rotating member of the eight rotating members and the transmission housing. Therefore, the entire length of the automatic transmission for a car can be reduced and the mounting properties thereof can be improved while realizing a forward ten-speed gear step and a reverse one-speed gear step. |
